The construction of the center started in 2014, and the infrastructure was completed in 2016, and since then entered a long-term technological cooperation period. The center mainly focuses on the cross-breeding and reproduction of dairy and beef cattle, forage grasses planting experiments and research, technological training, desertification control, and greening projects.

In terms of cow cross-breeding: the total success rate of artificial insemination reached 85%, and the embryo transfer conception rate reached 45%. The Holstein and Montpelier purebred and F1 and F2 generation through embryo transfer and artificial insemination have shown high adaptability to the local environment and stable performance. In 2025, Jersey cattle genes will be introduced to carry out three-way and four-way cross-breeding experiments, and the aim is to breed a new race with heat-resistant genes, suitable for local conditions, roughage resistance, and high disease resistance.

As for the forage planting experiment: In the past 8 years, the Demonstration Center has introduced 22 types of forage grasses, selected the main varieties suitable for the local climate and with high yield, regeneration, durability, and strong disease resistance, has realized the large-scale cultivation of alfalfa in desert soil, and introduced Giant Jucao from China to replace corn for silage, and applied water-saving irrigation technologies including large center-pivot irrigation system, drip irrigation, micro-spray belt, etc, and has summarized suitable planting and irrigation methods for each different forage grass.

Until now, the center has trained more than 1,200 students and planted more than 12,000 green plants and trees, becoming an oasis in the Sahara Desert, received visits from leaders of many countries, including the presidents of Mauritania and Gambia, as well as visits from NGOs such as the FAO, and has maintained long-term cooperation with many Chinese emerging agricultural equipment and tech companies and academic institutions.
